Give Us Some Time
How confident are you about prayer? How confident are you about what the bible teaches? You know each time I read the bible, I am greatly challenged by the experiences of the people I read about. I don't like Christianity that ends in mere words. Such kind of Christianity stinks even when it is clothed with all human decorations. Those who preceded us had audacious faith. They never played some random games or prayed some try and luck kind of prayers, they lived out the meaning of faith.
One time there was a very big problem in a nation called Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon had dreams that troubled his spirit. And he told the astrologers in his kingdom, 'My word is final: If you do not tell me the dream and its interpretation, you will be cut into pieces and your houses will be reduced to rubble.' (Daniel 2:5). The astrologers were so scared and they answered him saying: 'No one on earth can do what the king requests! ..What the king requests is so difficult that no one can tell it to him except the gods, whose dwelling is not with mortals.' (Daniel 2:9-10).
The bible says, 'When Arioch, the commander of the king's guard, had gone out to execute the wise men of Babylon, Daniel replied with discretion and tact. 'Why is the decree from the king so harsh?'' (Daniel 2:14) After the situation was explained to Daniel, he went straight to the king and said to him, 'GIVE ME SOME TIME, so I could give you the interpretation'. How challenged I am each time I read this. Daniel knew if he would be given time to pray he would find the answers. What Audacity!
In 2018, I was full of fear of what life holds for me. I was not sure of anything. Just hoping like every other person. Then I went into serious prayer. While I was praying I read something that both scared me so much and transformed me drastically: 'I said, 'You are 'gods'; you are all sons of the Most High.' But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.' (Psalm 82:6-7). I cried and I said, I will not die like mere mortals or fall like every other person. I must live out the reality of the Gospel. I must live out who I am in Christ. I woke up from my slumber and since then things have never been the same.
You must decide not to live an ordinary life. You're not called for such a life. Jesus came so we might manifest his fullness. 'And of his fullness, we all have received, and grace for grace.' It is time you approach prayer as something that is trustworthy. Something that could be leveraged to change anything.' Don't accept the ordinary religious life every other person lives. 'Ye are the children of the most High' The Bible says, 'But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light' (1 Peter 2:9)
Refuse to be a victim. You can become your best. Tell the Doctor, 'Give me some time'. Tell the world, 'Give me some time.' You can change any situation you've found yourself in today. 'And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.' (Heb 11:32-34)
Turn this to prayer!
