How Much Can Your Mind Conceive?
It has become a normal thing to bombard the gate of heaven for the things we want. We pray to God to give us what we want, and it feels like if only He gives us that, all our needs will be over. You wanted that job so badly and it seemed like the best thing that could ever happen to you. When the relationship was having issues, windows of heaven didn't have peace because you can't afford to lose an angel like her. But, how much can your mind really conceive? How sure are you of what is best for you?
Most times when I meditate on the biblical account of Jesus' birth, I usually wonder what would have been Mary's response if God had appeared to her to ask her what she wanted God to do for her. It is extremely unlikely that Mary would have asked God to make her the mother of the messiah. That period, there were many things that occupied the mind of young women and being mother of the saviour of the world is unlikely one of them. That beautiful and hot young Mary would have asked God to make her fiancé a very rich man. She would have asked God to bless her marriage with many children. Those things that appeared like her immediate need and the supposed success metrics of her generation would have been the focus of her prayer and request to God. Because that's all her mind could conceive then.
The more you walk with God, the more you realize how important it is for you to go for what He wants than what you want. The more you mature in Christ, the more you're concerned with training your mind not to be influenced by the senses but by the Spirit. The human mind though very powerful can be very limiting. Hence, when your prayers and desires are influenced by your natural mind, you will hardly comprehend God's idea of success or yield to His Divine plan. Some of the things that you've been bombarding the gates of heaven for may be nothing compared to what He has for you.
As a child, walking with God will be more about what you want and what you desire. However, as you grow in Christ, you will realize that it is actually more about what he wants than what you want. But, anytime what you passionately want is the same as what He really wants for you, there is no barrier or limitation that can stop you. When God makes man a success, it becomes obvious to anyone that comes in contact with him that he is truly a success. Don't let your immediate need or pain shut you away from the beautiful plan of God for your life. Don't let what you think others have make you lose heart in your walk with God. If you remain consistent, and yield to what he wants, He will make you something bigger than your mind can possibly conceive at this point.
Jesus told Peter and Andrew, 'Come, follow Me and I will make you'¦.' (Matthew 4:19). At that point, their mind couldn't comprehend what Jesus is capable of making them, but they followed Him giving up everything else. Today, many seemingly successful people of their generation are forgotten but not them. They became the men 'that turned the world upside down' (Acts 17:6).
''Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.' But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.' (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)
Don't let your mind limit you!
