Stop Seeking God's Face

Stop Seeking God's Face

Yesterday, I decided to listen to one of the preachers that I used to listen to many years ago. I enjoyed his messages then because it was the type that makes you feel things are wrong with the church and there is a need for an urgent change. As I listened to him yesterday, he talked about the coming revival and the need for revival in the church and I was puzzled. He was still talking about the revival that was supposed to come and I wondered when exactly such revival will come.

I remember how people cry in my church then and confess their sins Sunday after Sunday. I remember how I fasted for days 'seeking God's face'. I still remember how the preacher makes everyone feel like something is wrong with the church and the same repeats Sunday after Sunday. So, year after year, people are praying for revival, praying for God's face, and praying for God to pour his spirit over and over again. It is more like an endless chase.

When will we get there? When will the spirit be poured? When will revival come? When are we going to stop seeking for his presence and be finally sure that we have it? Don't make your Christianity an endless search for God that can never be found. Don't make your prayer a call for God's face that keeps disappearing. It is very tiring to approach Christianity this way. It is very tiring because God doesn't want us to be going round and round in circles.

Stop praying 'Lord let not your presence depart from me'. STOP! It is time to begin to acknowledge his ever-present presence in your life. Jesus said, 'And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age' (Matthew 28:20). In Hebrews, it is put this way, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'. Nevertheless, the rendering of these verses suggests that God is always on our side, but that's not it. GOD IS ALWAYS IN US. We are the living tabernacle of the father.

You carry God's presence as His child, why then do you continue to seek his presence. You represent God's face to your generation, why then do you continue to seek his face. Jesus said, 'am in the Father and the Father is in me;' (John 14:11). If you're in Christ, you're also in the father and the father is also in you. Stop making your Christianity a thing of struggle. STOP! Paul said that we become effective in our walk with God by our acknowledgment of what we have in Christ: 'That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.' (Philippians 1:6)

You're in Christ. You're the answer to the prayer for revival. When you start doing the work of the master around you, the people will start feeling the fire of revival. If you're waiting for a revival, you may wait forever without seeing it for revival is happening everywhere. All you need to do is to simply join the chariot and be part of it. Stop wishing to become or to find something in the future, and start showing forth the glory of him that has called you from darkness to his marvelous light.
You're the face of revival! You're the face of Christ!
