The Future Of Nigeria
Nigeria is no doubt a great country. Anytime I reflect on the ingenuity, hard work, global impact, creativity, and everyday life of Nigerians, I see a people so blessed and so determined to make a difference. A Lot of people dwell so much on what ills Nigeria (which is actually obvious) and fail to see the amazing things about the Nation. We can't overlook the mismanagement, the killings, the corruption, and the suffering of the people but we won't also allow it to overwhelm us, cloud our judgment and make us lose heart.
To me, Paul's words in Romans chapter five capture the situation in Nigeria accurately: '..But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound,' (vs 20). And you can't analyze sincerely the progress of Nigerians without seeing the abundance of God's grace at work. We've achieved great success and led other countries in many areas. Our young people are breaking limits and setting great records in information technology, academics, medicine, business, entrepreneurship, entertainment, and even in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Each time I reflect on these success areas of Nigerians, I'm greatly encouraged. I do know that we can replicate the same in the areas currently sticking. When I see global church auditoriums being built in Nigeria, I am encouraged, because it means we have the capacity to build the best stadium in the world. It means we have people with the leadership capacity to set a good vision and achieve it. It means we can build indigenous companies that can compete globally. And for sure, we are on the path. When I see the level of progress the Nigerian youths are making in the area of IT, I am compelled to believe that the issue of electricity and other bad systems can be and will be fixed by us.
Just as the bible tells, WE WILL OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD. And Christians must rise and champion the materialization of God's plan for Nigeria. We must take back our place, challenge the status quo and lead a sustainable reform. Just as many of our churches are already doing, we must properly educate and position our young people to become great leaders in all industries, politics, sports, music, entrainment, sciences, entrepreneurship, arts, information technology, etc. We have so much potential and the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is able to energize us to conquer the enemy of the state and enforce His will for the great Nation of Nigeria.
One of the great truths of life is that evil hardly prevails over good. There appears to be a systematic evil plan against the people but what those who are doing this fail to know is that they are bound to fail. Their illusory sense of success and sense of ability to do evil will definitely turn out to be the greatest mistakes and their path to complete downfall. Good will prevail over Nigeria, over the South, North, East, and West of the country. The gospel has proven for years to be the best tool to transform people and we have to use it in a deliberate way to change the future of Nigeria. We must invest in massive education and evangelism in the North until the gospel conquers completely.
AND IT WILL!
'The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.' (Romans 13:12).
