What Happened To Your Garden?

What Happened To Your Garden?

Sometimes we need to pause and evaluate the current state of the things God has handed over to us. Sometimes we're too focused on the things we want from the Lord that we become blind to how God feels about the things he entrusted to us. Some of the key parables Jesus told were about how we handle the gifts and opportunities God has given us. Today, He wants to call your attention once again to these things

One of the most touching verses of the bible I've ever read is Jeremiah 13:20, '..Where is the flock that was entrusted to you, your beautiful flock?' Brethren, what have you done with the man God brought your way? What have you done with the woman God made to come your way? That Sunday school class, children's department, or Choir that was handed over to you; what's its current state. Is it blossoming or diminishing in your hands? Is it getting stronger or weaker? "Where is the flock that was entrusted to you?'

What happened to your Garden? Has it been overtaken by weeds? What's the current state of the gifts and talents God gave you? The girl was happy and progressing until he married you. Brother, why is she depreciating in your hands? The man has been losing his mind since you became his wife. Sister, have you neglected your garden? All the friends that God has ever brought to you ended up as fake friends to you. What exactly do you want? Or the bosses ended up as bad bosses to you. What is going on?

It's a big sign of gratitude to take responsibility for the people and the things God has brought our way. No matter how small it's, you can't neglect them, you can't let them wither away. Things should grow in your hands not otherwise. People should be transformed positively coming your way not becoming worse. Don't let the way you talk make people lose their self-worth and self-confidence. Jesus was not pleased with the religious people of his days. He told them, 'Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.' (Matthew 23:15)

Just imagine God asking you this very question. Imagine God questioning you about your friend, your brother, your parents, your ministry, your job, your voice, or the vision he gave you years back. Recently the Lord called my attention to the children I raised during my secondary school days when I was children coordinator in my church and asked where they are?

What happened to your garden? Have you neglected it to search for other things that matter more to you? Have you allowed that misunderstanding to be put to an end to the friendship God made possible so that you change a life? The feeble hands that came your way, are they weaker or stronger today? My dear, it's not always about you or the things you want? What about the things that have been given to you? What has become of them?

'Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;' (1 Peter 5:2), It is time to take care of your garden.
